Streacom delivers cases that are cutting edge in both design and performance. The cases are of premium grade extruded aluminium, with a fine sandblast texture, for a high quality look and feel. This case delivers the best of both worlds; a superior fanless cooling solution and broad hardware compatibility, all while maintaining the very premium look Streacom is known for.
The key component of the broad hardware compatibility is in its support for virtually all ITX motherboards, due to a much improved cooling design. The motherboard is mounted parallel to the side panels, making the heat pipes run perpendicular to the motherboard. No longer will PC builders have to worry whether the heat pipes will interfere with other hardware or the motherboard itself. Not only that, but the CPU mount has been re-engineered to be universally compatible with any socket, and improved the efficiency of the cooling of the CPU’s IHS. And to top it all off, it is now possible to expand the cooling solution to use two side panels for up to 110W of cooling; a welcome improvement over the usual 65W for the heavy CPU users.
But that is not all. Building on the F12C’s well-received universal bracket system, the BD4, too, has a flexible and modular mounting system. All side panels are removable for very easy access to all the hardware within. The drives, the heat sink mount, and even the Steacom PSU can all be mounted anywhere along the case. Furthermore, the DB4 supports a full height dual slot PCI card*, a minimum of 4 drives (3×3.5” + 1×2.5” + ZF240 PSU) and up to 12 disk drives**, all in a relatively small form factor, being 260mm wide and 270mm high.
